I’ve been psyched for a while now, knowing that we had a two week animation class coming up.
We were tasked with animating a character we had created early this semester so we’d focus on the animation and not spend all our time trying to come up with a fresh character design.
My character was this, a faceless sand creature that came from me screwing up when I tried my hand at sculpting. The sculpture dried up, cracked under it’s own weight and crumbled together – So I ran with it.
First thing I did was this crude storyboard. I actually did a bunch of storyboards, but this was the one where the story made the most sense. It was also the only one that didn’t required about thirty animators and four months of production time.
When I had the story down I did these sketches, trying to figure out what this thing was going to look like. Even though I sketched these in PS I tried i make them feel like vector so I knew that the style could be duplicated once I got to the animating part.
I’m still working on the animation. I’m not sure how it’ll turn out but I’ll post it here even if it turns out super shitty.
