Today’s comic contains a rhinoceros.
I perform most of my “job” from the safe confines of my lair, huddle by a table, talking to myself in codes of my own devising. And, subsequently, i suspect that i have far less actual human interaction than most people. That is, most people that aren’t young freelancers.
Being a freelancer is like inhabiting some hazy dream-realm. You try to capture some of the fevered visions that float by, while cursing all available forms of divinity for your inability to accurately describe what you see. You listen to the voices in your head, and you listen to all those other voices, and you draw what they tell you to draw. Some images you get payed for, some you don’t. After a while you have a hard time distinguishing the two. Basically, you just draw stuff all day, do your best, and then, maybe, someone gives you money.
